Holiday advice really needed – 4 adults – two with health problems – not sure where to go?
I am paying for my family to go away somewhere in late April/early May for 10 days to 2 weeks.
My brother 30 odd year old brother had to have a hip operation last November 2010, and is still walking with a crutch and my elder sister has Systemic Lupus. Me and my mother are fine so it had to be a country that we could all enjoy without fear of getting ill, political uprisings, etc.
White sand beaches
A country which is not too hilly
Full board accommodation or all inclusive (my mother’s desire)
I had thought about the following countries but there are also disadvantages:
Cyprus: too hilly – if my brother and sister want to go for a short walk somewhere this might be difficult
Gambia – Malaria risk (though this would have been ideal otherwise)
Florida (Fine – but no all inclusive deals for this sort of destination)
Canary Islands (Weather may not be too great in April/May and the beaches do not seem to be as nice as those further afield -e.g Caribbean, Indian ocean etc)
Mauritius (I went there before and it is beautiful but hours and hours away. Also my son and I had a really bad time with the mossies despite taking spray)
Dominican Republic (Hotels that say they are 4 and 5 star when you look on hotel review sites are more like 2 and 3 star. Also seem to be problems with food poisoning in some locations – not good for my sis) – also we’ve all been to the Caribbean before – Antigua and Cuba.
Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Dubai (My family do not want to go to the first three due to present or impending political instability in those countries and Dubai does not appeal)
France, Mainland Spain, Greece, Central Europe, Portugal and Italy (too near – we want this to be a holiday in a lifetime and it will probably be the last we take together)
Australia and New Zealand (Too far away for my sister to travel to)
Fiji (Too far and realllllly expensive!)
Goa (Cannot seem to find any holidays to this area for April or May and they only seem to do Bed and breakfast during other months)
South Africa (potentially dangerous – so my mother would not entertain it)
Canada (too cold in April/May)
Cuba (a possibility but I went there before and it was a bit of a disappointment)
I really have run out of possible destinations to look at… any ideas (outside of Europe)?
If the health problems are an issue for you stick to a country within the EU and make sure that you have adequate health insurance cover OR at the very lease an EHIC card – http://www.tumbit.com/how-to-guides/articles/131-the-ehic-card-explained.html
Best Holiday Destination?
We want to go on holiday and are stuck on where to go. We would like:
– A sunny place, hot but not too hot.
– On the beach
– All inclusive hotel
– Five star hotel (could do four)
– Somewhere not too busy
– A place that sells English or Italian food (a buffet choice would be good)
– Very beautiful surroundings.
– Not too expensive (Under £1200 per person)
Please could you help us find the perfect destination/resort to stay in.
Stay home: theres no place like home for the holidays by the carpenters: look it up. Unless u live in a tropical no-snow environment,… HEAD NORTH!
Recommend relaxing holiday in the sun!?
I’m looking to go away in June this year. I want somewhere where there’s nice beaches and hot weather, but I’m not really a fan of all–inclusive, “touristy” places as I’m not really a fan of noise, drinking and overcrowding! Can anyone recommend a nice tranquil area in Europe, preferably around Spain or Italy or nearby countries? I’m not on a massively limited budget but I can’t afford really upmarket places either
Costa del sol, Spain the nearest airport is Malaga visit www.marbellaeye.com for holiday rentals and rent a luxurious apartment in a very lovely urbanization called Miraflores Hills and enjoy being close to Marbella and Puerto Banus and the lovely beaches and food also Tennis, golf courses…etc.
I am looking to get married abroad next Aug for under £3000 anyone know of any great deals?
Hi, me and my partner and our 3year old girl and 6month old boy would like to get married abroad next year, my daughter will be 4 and my son will be 1 by then, we are looking for a 2 week holiday/wedding around the 18th Aug as we would like to be back by the 6th Sept. We would also like the plane journey to be less than 5hours as no-one likes screaming kids on the flight. That really limits us to Greece,Malta, Italy , Portugal and Corfu i suppose. All for under £3000??? Is it possible, I really hope someone can tell me it is!! Also ideally All inclusive.
P.S, We are from South East England and we would like to get married either on the beach or grounds of the hotel.
Please dont answer with :- Go see a travel agents, I am asking your opinions and ideas first. Thank you.
My husband and I got married in Barbados in April, we went with Virgin, they organised the whole wedding for £250 and it included loads of extras for free. We stayed at the Southern Palms which was AMAZING – 9 nights room only including the wedding cost about £2500 in total! We did need about £2000 spending as Barbados isn’t cheap but we didn’t skimp on the luxuries. You could probably spend half that much and still have a great time!
Good holiday ideas please?
My boyfriend and I are looking to go away in September. We want to go somewhere relaxing and fairly hot so one of the following: Spain, Italy, Tenerife, France, Portugal, Switzerland etc. I speak French and he speaks Spanish, but we can get by in German as well. I’d love to go all inclusive, but I am only a student… Looking at 3-4* for a week to either a hotel or villa type place (neither of us are old enough to drive abroad as we are 19 and 20)
Does anyone know of any good websites to look? Or can recommend any good places/companies to go with? Bearing in mind I have very limited funds, but obviously don’t want somewhere too crummy…
Thanks for your help!
I normally find that going in to a shop will get you a better deal.
Looking on websites can sometimes have so much choice that you never end up making a decision because a better deal turns up!
It is also difficult to find out what sort of clubs, shops and attractions are nearby and if transfers etc are included.
A travel agent will be able to answer all your questions, and even if they don’t give you a good deal at least youll have a good idea of where you want to go.
I booked a trip away to Greece in September about a month ago, it only cost £400 for 1 week all inclusive at a 4* hotel in a really good area including transfers.
Give it a go, I reccomend FirstChoice.
